If someone had ever told me that there exists a game where Pokémon run around with pistols or rifles, I would have laughed at them. However, this is something I never expected. But it’s completely true! The producer, Pocketpair, really went all out here and came up with something that has never been done before. Let's break it down a bit.
Elements
"Palworld" combines elements of survival, crafting, and creature collection in a unique and unexpected way. Here’s a breakdown of what the game entails:
1. Creature Collection: Which is similar to Pokémon. Players can capture and befriend creatures called "Pals." These Pals can assist the player in various tasks and even engage in battles. Each Pal has specific skills that assist our character in building the base. Some Pals have mining skills, others are adept at gathering plants, while others can heat our food. Everything depends on the species of the Pal.
2. Combat and Weapons: Unlike traditional creature collection games, "Palworld" includes firearms and other weapons. Players and their Pals can wield these weapons to defend against threats and other hostile creatures like Bosses.
3. Survival Mechanics: The game incorporates survival elements such as gathering resources, building shelters, and managing food supplies. Players must ensure their own survival as well as the well-being of their Pals. The Pals can also get sick and refuse to follow a given work command. To get a Pal back to its tasks, you need to create and give it the appropriate medicine.
4. Crafting and Building: Players can craft items and build structures to improve their chances of survival. The Pals can help with these activities, making the process more efficient and adding strategic depth to the game. The higher the level we have, the more structures we can build, which require more resources as the level increases.
5. Open World Exploration: "Palworld" features an open-world environment where players can explore different biomes, discover new Pals, and encounter various challenges and adventures. Each biome is different, with unique resources and levels of difficulty. Weather conditions also change, so proper preparation is key.
6. Multiplayer and Co-op: The game supports multiplayer modes, allowing players to team up with friends to explore the world, capture Pals, and complete tasks together. However, many people believe that there is no point in playing together due to the lack of difficulty, as playing in a team makes the game very easy, which can quickly become boring.
In my opinion, the game contains many elements that have been mixed from other games such as Ark: Survival Evolved, Valheim, Song of The Evertree, and even Pokémon itself, while offering really great fun.
Dungeons and Boss Battles
In "Palworld," dungeons and boss battles add an exciting and challenging dimension to the gameplay. Here’s an overview:
Dungeons:
1. Variety and Design: Dungeons in "Palworld" are diverse, each with unique themes, layouts, and environmental hazards. They can be found across different biomes and are designed to test players' skills and strategies.
2. Challenges and Puzzles: These dungeons often contain a mix of combat challenges, environmental puzzles, and traps. Players must navigate through these obstacles to progress deeper into the dungeon.
3. Loot and Rewards: Completing dungeons rewards players with valuable resources, rare items, and new Pals. The loot can be used to enhance the player's base, craft better equipment, and strengthen their team of Pals.
Boss Battles:
1. Unique Bosses: Each dungeon typically culminates in a boss battle against a powerful and unique adversary. These bosses have distinct abilities and attack patterns that require careful planning and quick reflexes to defeat.
2. Strategic Combat: Boss battles often require the use of specific strategies and the abilities of different Pals. Players must choose their team wisely and make use of the Pals' unique skills to overcome these formidable foes.
3. Team Coordination: In multiplayer mode, team coordination becomes crucial during boss battles. Players need to work together, combining their Pals' abilities and supporting each other to defeat the boss.
When it comes to Palworld, there is much, much more than I described. The game appears to be more demanding than it seems. Remember too, that it is being improved with updates.
